The 2010-2011 Band Orientation Meeting will be held on April 27th in the Joseph Boland Theater at Hillgrove. This year, we will have a 9th grade only meeting at 7pm, followed by a meeting for all at 8pm.

Students are ENCOURAGED to attend, as there will be a separate 'students only' meeting held at the same time.

SPRING CAMP

In addition, the Hillgrove Marching Band SPRING CAMP will be held May 25-27. The Spring Camp is our annual Try-out camp for Marching Band. It is the perfect opportunity for our rising 9th grade students to get a feel for the marching band, and make some great new friends with our upperclassmen.

Any student may attend the camp to check it out. Students who wish to march, but cannot make the camp dates MUST contact Mr Ferrell or Mr Erwin as soon as possible. We will finalize all drill spots by the 3rd day of camp.

All rising 9-12 grade students wishing to be a part of the Hillgrove Drumline or Front Ensemble for the 2010 marching season, please plan to begin audition/rehearsals on Tuesday, January 5th, 6p-8p in the HIllgrove Band Hall.

PARENTS - There will be a very important meeting to explain the process and expectations from 6 - 6:20pm. Please plan to attend.

These rehearsals will continue every Tuesday from 6-8pm all semester. Attendance at all rehearsals is imperative to receive all information and have a shot at the spot you want.

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE:

The High School Percussion Ensemble will rehearse on Thursdays from 3:45 - 5:45 all semester.

This year's concert will feature performances from the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, and Percussion Ensemble. You'll want to be early to get a great seat!

Some reminders about concerts:

1. They are not optional.

2. Students must wear their Hillgrove Concert Uniform. 9th graders, please make sure your $100 is paid (it was due 11/1).

3. Students must stay for the entire concert. This is part of our mission statement to educate the students to support one another and to learn proper concert etiquette. Releases may be granted in the case of extenuating circumstances..please contact us if such a case exists.

4. We will be collecting donations at the concert for the Joseph B Boland Scholarship for the Arts. This scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who plans to pursue the arts upon graduation.

5. We will need much help after the concert putting away chairs, stands, instruments, and uniforms. Students who can, please plan to stay and help.

Band students who plan to participate (it's not mandatory...yet), will need to be here at 4:30am on Friday, dressed in Beyond Shirts and jeans. There is a sign up sheet in the band hall for those who want to participate.

Tuesday - No rehearsal: Hawkfest
Wednesday - 5p-8p
Thursday - 5p-8p
Friday - 5p-7p

Hillgrove will be performing in UGA"s Hodgson Concert Hall at 7:15p, January 21, 2010. Please make plans to attend this wonderful event.
