Letter from a Plymouth-Canton Band Parent

Dr. Shaw,

I am a parent of a marching band student at Plymouth-Canton Educational
Park in Canton, Michigan.  I recently had the opportunity to see your band
at a BOA Regional event in Pontiac, Michigan.  I wanted to let someone at
the school know just how impressed I was with your students. Their
performance was great and the students did an awesome job. But more than that, their behavior was exemplary.  A tradition at the Regionals is for the winning band to have a command performance. PCEP won the regional and needless to say our students and parents were elated as this is the first Regional they have won in quite a long time.  All the schools quickly left the stadium leaving our school to perform for just the remaining parents and Hillgrove students, as they were the only school to stay. Not only that but they cheered for them and were genuinely happy for them.

I have been to many competitions in the 4 years my son has been in marching band, but this is the first letter I have written to another school to let them know their students were winners in my eyes.  Congratulations to your marching band students and staff not only for an awesome performance but for also teaching awesome behaviors and citizenship.  It is not something we see enough of, unfortunately.

Thank you for allowing us to meet your students.
