The Hillgrove Bands’ HUSTLE Award


HUSTLE Award Criteria

Hustle Award recipients embody the 5 core values of the band program: Humility, Scholarship, Trust, Leadership, and Excellence.   Students winning this award will be awarded a HUSTLE Medallion at the end of year band banquet.  To be considered for the HUSTLE award, students must meet the following criteria:


Students must show evidence of selfless service in school, community, etc…  Any type of volunteer service hours may be reported for this portion of the award.


Award winners must post a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA.


Each student’s trustworthiness will be evaluated by 4 peers and 1 teacher.


The student must have participated in Mr Erwin’s after school leadership course, or an acceptable substitute.


The student must complete the following objectives:

  1. Must take a minimum of 20 private lessons in the course of the school year.

  2. Must audition for district honor band/all state.

  3. Must perform an approved SOLO at Solo and Ensemble in May.
